Here are a few pics of myself and my buddies after being JACKED UP!  I stopped maintaining these a while back, so if you have any pictures/stories of your battle wounds, please, send them in and I'll post them!

Bikes

Let's start with what's important - our machines.  Our bodies will heal, but busting your bike can suck even more.

  • Radiator, radiator shroud, all the plastics of course, brake levers (till I discovered ASV levers)
  • Ryan's case
  • Other

Me

Luckily after 2 years I spend more time riding than I do crashing, but it's inevitable in this sport.  Following is a summary of my injuries, most received in the first 1.5 years of riding, and learning how to ride.

  • Busted both knees.  Twice.  Then bought kneepads for $10.  10 weeks to heal.
  • Broke 2 ribs.  First time I rode without my chest protector, what do I do?  Jam my ribs into my bars.  Yeah baby!  About 2 months to heal.
  • Bruises.  Routine.  2-3 Weeks each.

  • Head over heels / human rag doll at 40MPH is fun!
  • Broke my thumb.  Didn't even know it was broken till I finally went to the doc 2 months later, telling him it "hurt like hell".   X-rays confirmed it was broken, and it still bothers me, 2 years later...but it was worth it.  ;-)~
  • Toe Death: Ripped the toenail off my big toe - 20+ weeks to recover.  Ditto from above - went for several weeks before I wondered if something was wrong and the doc confirmed a crack.

  • Blisters: I worked with my hands for 7 years through college and had huge calluses, but don't any longer. Had pretty nice blisters the first several months.

Mike

  • Concussion/Ribs: Mike face-planted and ended up with a concussion so bad that he spent the entire day at the campfire and didn't remember it.  He also broke a rib (or two?) and dislocated his shoulder.

TJ

  • Wrist: TJ's last bad crash wasted his wrist - this after several weeks of healing from ankle surgery inflicted while riding a 50cc (don't laugh now).  Unfortunately for TJ, he's a cop, so when he's broken, he gets desk duty.

Daryn

  • ACL Hell: Daryn took what appeared to be a "nothing" spill in front of my buddy Mike and went down HARD in major pain like Mike had never seen.  Nobody could understand how he could be in such pain until the doc's report came back and Daryn had ripped is ACL.  Do you even know where your ACL is, and how damned hard it is to rip that thing?  Took Daryn out for 6-9 months, and he is getting a spare ACL from a cadaver (a dead guy).  I think that one beats all.

Roger

  • "Road Rash": He flipped over the bars off a huge table top on his brand new KTM MX250. The reason he is smiling is because we gave him lots of beer.
